Join us Thursday, July 28th, 6 to 8 p.m. to help protect Pine Bend Bluffs Scientific & Natural Area (SNA), an award-winning restoration site known for some of the best views of the Upper Mississippi River.

Working with FMR Lead Ecologist Karen Schik and FMR Stewardship Coordinator Adam Flett volunteers will remove spotted knapweed and hoary allysum, two invasive species encroaching on the native prairie. Minnesota's native bees and local wildlife depend on this rare habitat. Plus, with their deeper root systems, the native prairie plants better control erosion and filter pollution that would otherwise run down the Pine Bend Bluffs into the Mississippi River below.

As always, training, gloves, tools and guidance will be provided. Volunteers should be aware, however, that an SNA is not your average park; there are no paved trails, pavilions or other facilities.

Ready to register?

To sign up and receive directions to the meeting spot, contact FMR Volunteer Coordinator Amy Kilgore via the contact form (please select Amy by name from the staff list under "Category") or at akilgore@fmr.org, 651-222-2193 x31. You will receive a confirmation email with details and directions from akilgore@fmr.org within two business days. (If you don't, please check your SPAM folder.)
